I was happy when I saw an iPhone ad during the Simpsons episode making fun of Apple.

I was happy because of the sandwich I recently ate.

Oct. 9th, 2008 @ 01:04 pm Medium-Speed Pursuit!
So while my coworker and I were on our way back from lunch today, we got passed by some yahoo guy, then there were 10 cop cars following him with lights and sirens a-blazin'.

Turns out the guy was wanted for robbery and had crashed into a few cars just before he went by us. After he passed us, he got on the expressway and the cops forced his car to crash. Pretty exciting stuff. I hope nobody got hurt:

Ben Folds Five is getting together for at least one live show. They'll be playing through "The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner," which is a fantastic album. And my favorite web site in the world, MySpace, seems to have something to do with it. Yahtzee!

Sep. 12th, 2008 @ 02:07 pm cutoff and resonance
There was this time a number of years ago when listening to new electronic music was the most captivating thing in the world. I've been listening to some "classics" today, and it took me back to a time when discovering music was exciting. This was before music blogs. This was before streaming internet radio was mainstream. This was before electronic music was completely arranged and generated on PCs and Macs. This was before people stopped doing LSD.

I don't know what I'm trying to say here, and I don't know how to say it without sounding like a grandpa talking to a grandkid. But I just miss the days of getting lost in music. It seems that music is so commoditized now that it's just not a thrill to listen to anymore. It's disposable. It's background music for surfing the stupid web. Even when I purchase an album (CD or digital), it's just not as fun. Maybe that's why vinyl is coming back... playing a record forces you to put a little effort into it, assuring that it has your complete attention.

It's like something's missing.
